One More Time For the Fundamentals!

If there’s anyone new here, wondering how to get the most out of the program, here’s my advice: take Module One seriously.

A lot of new TPAers rush through the Module One explorations or skip them altogether. If that was you, don’t worry, you’re in good company. But I know plenty of graduates who would’ve saved a lot of time by taking their time.

Plenty of people get further into the program and only then realize how supportive that content was, so they go back and get it. Or they hit some wall in their marketing efforts and go back out of necessity.

Taking Module One’s exercises in earnest and completing the submissions that lead up to your first discovery call will be some of the best time you spend in the program.

Module One is the foundation we build your entire marketing strategy on. Your Psychology Today profile is your unique message from 1.9. Your homepage is your ideal client work from 1.6. Your referral conversations work when someone can repeat, in one sentence, who you serve. Your ads spend real money on the exact words your client types in the dead of night. Language that comes right out of the Diary Entry exercise. Every one of those traces back to your first couple of weeks in TPA.

A thin Module One shows up in a meandering website process or a generic referral strategy. The cause sits upstream: the thirty minutes you skipped in 1.4.

Module One is deep, unglamorous work, and the later modules feel like progress because they hand you something to look at. Pages. Settings. A profile photo. Foundation work hands you a document and a sense that you understand your client better. It does not photograph well.

But the unglamorous part is the part that pays. Show up to that discovery call trying to wing it and you’re going to get generic results.

When you know who you serve, referral partnerships emerge naturally. Your consult conversions are more consistent because your offer has sound mechanics and you believe what you are saying. Your communication everywhere takes on a greater sense of authority.

Clarity upstream is calm downstream. Fog upstream is dread before every blank page and referral outreach. You have probably felt both. You know which one you are working from right now.

The depth you reach here is the ceiling on everything you write afterward. You cannot speak to someone more clearly than you have understood them.

So, if you have a discovery call on the books, don’t phone this one in.

Set some time aside to prepare. Everything else in your TPA journey will benefit if you do this well.
